Douglas FeithDouglas Feith, under secretary of defence for policy, plans to step down before the summer, Donald Rumsfeld, defence secretary, said on Wednesday.
Mr Feith cut a controversial figure in Washington. His efforts to build a parallel intelligence gathering unit in the Pentagon, which critics say cherry-picked information to make the case for war, infuriated the Central Intelligence Agency. One former senior administration official said the White House had been wanting to oust Mr Feith for months but the Pentagon “had been digging their heels in”.
Mr Feith, one of the Bush administration's neo-conservatives, was a key architect of the Iraq war. Mr Rumsfeld said on Wednesday that Mr Feith told him after the presidential election that he wanted to return to the private sector.
“Regretfully, he has decided to depart and he will be missed...I hope he will stay until an appropriate replacement is found, “ Mr Rumsfeld said.
Mr Feith’s planned departure is the first sign of upheaval at the Pentagon.
If Paul Wolfowitz - the number two man in the Pentagn - resigns or moves, one candidate touted as his replacement is Stephen Cambone, undersecretary for intelligence. Mr Cambone has been instrumental in pushing Mr Rumsfeld’s goal of transforming the military.

Your photo of the moron with the AK and the mask sucks. It also makes many people think you are a terrorist lover. Please lose it... I guess if you are sympathetic to terrorism, you'll probably leave it to make that point. All the politcal babbling in the world will not change the fact that the picture is exceptionally annoying, so don't bother.

Even if im not sympathetic to any terrorism i´d say that the neocon foreign policy is and continues to be a nuicance far greater than any one photo, so i´ll leave the photo there as long as the neofascists are in control of u.s foreign policy.
Oh, how mature.... You'll leave a bad thing there, because of another bad thing. I bet you will really make a change in the world by doing so. I think people should change there ways, so that you take the huge pressure off of them.
Why don't you put a picture of the way that you want things? Or did you?
